Singing Sensation Ishmeet Singh, Who Won the harts of punjabis across the world by wining a reality singing compitition last year, drowned in the maldives on Tuesday 29 July 2008.

Ishmeet’s uncle Charankamal Singh confirmed the death of his nephew in the Maldives.

Ishmeet’s father Gurpinder Singh said he wasn’t aware of the circumstances of the death of his son. Atamjit Singh, a relative, told TOI that the family received a call from the CEO of Big Events, which was hosting a programme with Ishmeet in the Indian Ocean island nation, informing them of the incident. The singer is believed to have drowned in the sea. Singh said, ‘‘Ishmeet had gone only this morning to the Maldives.’’
